University of Lethbridge

The University of Lethbridge seeks an accomplished feminist scholar to serve as the inaugural Director of our newly formed Centre for Feminist Research. The start date of the appointment is July 1, 2025, subject to budgetary approval. The University of Lethbridge offers competitive benefits; the annual hiring salary will range from minimum at rank to a maximum of $120,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to applicants at the Associate Professor rank, although exceptional candidates at the Assistant Professor level may be considered. Successful candidates above Assistant Professor will need to be approved for tenure by the Faculty of Arts and Science Salary, Tenure, and Promotion Committee. It is anticipated that the initial term of the inaugural Director of the Centre for Feminist Research will span five years, with the potential for renewal.

The successful candidate will take the lead role in building the ULethbridge Centre for Feminist Research and will oversee the University’s B.A. and M.A. programs in Women and Gender Studies, with the opportunity to shape, strengthen, and sustain these degrees. To be considered for this position, candidates must have a strong record of high-quality feminist research and teaching, success in attracting external funding, experience with community engagement as well as with student mentorship. Enthusiasm and demonstrated experience in building a supportive and engaged network of cross-disciplinary feminist scholars is a critical expectation for this position. The assigned duties will reflect the labour required of this work.

Candidates must be able to teach core courses in our Bachelor of Arts, Women and Gender Studies program. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to develop senior level undergraduate courses in their field of expertise and supervise graduate students through our M.A. in Women and Gender Studies and/or the M.A. or Ph.D. in our Cultural, Social and Political Thought interdisciplinary graduate program.

The Centre for Feminist Research
The University of Lethbridge is establishing a new Centre for Feminist Research [CFR]. The CFR will facilitate innovative interdisciplinary feminist scholarship by emerging and established scholars across campus. The aim is to generate a hub for feminist research at the University of Lethbridge. Providing University of Lethbridge undergraduate and graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty who have a feminist research program and/or praxis with a collaborative and supportive home, the CFR will elevate feminist scholarship on campus and engage and work meaningfully in partnership with local, regional, and global communities outside of academia. This Centre will serve as an incubator for collaborative interdisciplinary feminist research that:

• advances the research visibility of ULeth feminist scholars inside and outside the University
• provides supportive mentorship and experiential learning opportunities to students and early career scholars
• attracts interdisciplinary external research funding
• partners with scholars and local, regional, and global communities to advocate for meaningful and impactful change
• is faculty-led, to ensure that resulting initiatives and/or research projects reflect and advance individual research programs and affords
opportunities for collaborative associations across disciplines and/or Faculties
