The Faculty of Business and IT invites applications, from qualified individuals, for a tenure-track or tenured position in at the Assistant Professor level. This position is subject to budgetary approval, and would start on July, 2025.


Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of their doctorate, with a specialization in Marketing or a closely related field. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach and develop courses in digital marketing and conduct research in this area.

The successful candidate must present evidence of the following:

a strong academic background;
strong track record or potential in innovative and scholarly research leading to top-ranked peer-assessed publications; and
strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:

attract tri-council funding and train HQP;
engage in leading-edge research with colleagues and students; and
promote their research externally and build relationships with relevant industry and/or academic partners.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to pursue research in a wide range of areas within digital marketing, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in both theoretical and applied domains. Potential research fields include, but are not limited to, consumer behavior in digital contexts, digital advertising and promotion, social media marketing, search engine marketing and optimization, marketing research methods applied in digital analytics and measurement, online retailing and omnichannel marketing, ethical and regulatory issues in digital marketing, emerging trends and innovations in digital marketing, and content marketing. The hiring committee will give special considerations to candidates who display competence or potential in research related to socially responsible marketing and intersection of marketing and sustainability in addition to the topics above.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach or develop undergraduate and graduate courses in digital marketing. These courses may include, but are not limited to, digital marketing, social media marketing, digital marketing in the era of AI, content marketing, search engine optimization, online advertising, email marketing, website optimization and E-commerce, digital marketing strategy, digital analytics, security and privacy issues in digital marketing, and paid search and display advertising, together with marketing and sustainability.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 40% Research, 40% Teaching and 20% Service workload each year.

The Faculty of Business and Information Technology (FBIT) at Ontario Tech University offers honours undergraduate degrees in Commerce (Co-Op) with majors and minors in Marketing, Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accounting, and Technology Management. Additionally, we offer a Bachelor of Information Technology with specializations in Networking and Security, Game Development and Interactive Media, and Technology Management. At the graduate level, we offer a Master of Business Analytics and AI, a Master of Financial Data Analytics, and a Master of IT Security degree with an Artificial Intelligence focus. MSc and PhD programs in Computer Science are offered jointly by the Faculties of Business and IT and Science. The marketing faculty members at FBIT have active research interests in consumer behaviour, marketing analytics, marketing strategy, and international marketing. Our group members have been highly successful in publishing in top-ranked management and marketing journals. We are a collaborative group looking forward to welcoming a new faculty member interested in working with people in all areas of Marketing. This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the UOIT Faculty Association and will be subject to the terms and conditions of the collective agreement between the University and the UOIT Faculty Association collective agreement may be found on the Human Resources section of our website. Starting salary will be commensurate with experience and annual salary increases are administered as per the terms outlined in the collective agreement.
