Assistant or Associate Librarian, Learning & Curriculum Support – Two Positions

The McLaughlin Library at the University of Guelph invites applications to fill two positions for Learning & Curriculum Support Librarians at the rank of Assistant Librarian (Continuing Appointment-track) or Associate Librarian (Continuing Appointment) levels. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date in 2025.

The positions report to the Manager, Information Literacy, and are members of the Information Literacy (IL) team, in the Learning & Curriculum Support (L&CS) team. The Learning & Curriculum Support Librarian:
• Uses the ACRL Framework (https://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework) for Information Literacy for Higher Education to design, deliver and assess information literacy instruction, programming, and services within courses, programs, and colleges in in-person, online, synchronous, and asynchronous contexts
• Provides research help services, including knowledge synthesis support (e.g. systematic or scoping reviews), in person and online
• Participates in special projects, committees, and team processes to advance the goals, values, and mission of the IL team, the L&CS team, the McLaughlin Library, and the University of Guelph
• Works collaboratively with colleagues and faculty in a team-based environment
• Maintains current awareness of best practices and emerging trends in information literacy, academic libraries, and higher education
• Engages in scholarship, including research, study, professional development, scholarly and/or creative activities
• Engages in service, including to the University, academic or professional service, and/or relevant community service.
Required Qualifications:
• ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree or equivalent
• Experience providing instruction to groups in a college or university setting and/or knowledge of instructional design and pedagogy
• Experience providing reference service and/or broad knowledge of information sources and tools in academic libraries
• Knowledge of best practices and current trends in information literacy in higher education and ability to apply the ACRL Information Literacy Framework for Higher Education (https://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework)
• Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to the principles of Indigenization, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility in libraries and higher education
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and software
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative and collegial team-based organization
• Self-directed and well organized with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with knowledge synthesis (e.g. systematic and scoping review) methods and tools, including the development of comprehensive search strategies
• Familiarity with critical information literacy theory and practice
• Knowledge of accessible teaching practices, accessible document creation, and/or accessible digital media creation.
